Furthermore, while interviewing Elder Derrick, I asked him the tell me what leadership means to him. While giving me a straight stare, and as I observed the seriousness in his eyes, he said, “A definition to leadership means to me sacrifice, love dedication, to put it quite frankly, one that is willing to put himself/herself on the line to lead people into becoming well-qualified individuals in whatever they are called to do. All while leading by example of humiliation, and caring.” I found this definition to be an excellent one, because I believe that to lead you must have sympathy, encouraging, empowering, and most importantly wanting to see individuals grow and go beyond the call of duty in their endeavors.
