People often face an internal struggle, “Elastic Heart,” by Sia, speaks of being thrust into a difficult situation unprepared and shares the sad truth of what happens when the struggle becomes too much . Throughout the song, Sia describes a continuous battle against mental illness as well as her resilience and determination to win her fight. The writer’s determination to win her fight becomes more clear as the song progresses. In lines 19-22, Sia sings:
And I will stay up through the night
Let's be clear, I won't close my eyes
And I know that I can survive
I walked through fire to save my life.
Communicating the severity of her illness, Sia suggests she would ‘stay up through the night,’(19, Sia) , which is representative of her illness

When I first had depression, I was very moody and irritable, but I also felt stress and often burst into tears. As I watch the video, I’m able to relate to the mood changes the dancers interpret during the scene where Ziegler stabs LaBoeuf in the face, every time she strikes, his face changes to show a different emotion, reminiscent to the mood swings I used to have. When LaBoeuf carries his dance partner around like a weight, I think of how difficult my depression is sometimes, and the stress my illness puts on me. Hearing Sia compare herself to a rubber band, reminds me of how I can easily break down, whether it’s from my depression, or even my frustration due to my inability to focus because of my ADD. However, when I listen to “Elastic Heart,” I also hear words of empowerment. Like the artist, I am committed to becoming independent from my depression. When Sia says she has an ‘Elastic Heart,’ I think of how elastic returns to its former state, similar of how I hope to one day return to the state I was in before I had depression.
“Elastic Heart’s,” poignant lyrics and performance beautifully identify what it’s like to live with a mental illness or any fight fight that someone enters unprepared. Sia’s determination and resilience to win shines through her lyric. These things are what made “Elastic Heart,” become one of my favorite songs. Sia’s ballad is relatable and her words will definitely stick with me for years to

Night Fever To start this off I want to say I choose and did this song before I started thinking about the song in psychology terms. I choose this song because I really like it and every other song that has played has been either really depressing or a song that no one has ever heard of before. This song makes me want to get up and dance even though I am awful at dancing. I think it would be really cool to experience a club like the one in the movie Saturday Night Fever because now a days clubs play loud techno music and not cool disco music.…

The most influential music in my life is the song “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. Both my dad and I love country music, especially Tim McGraw. My dad thinks the world of my older sister and I. Like any great father, he would do absolutely anything for his girls. Whenever he hears this song on the radio, or wherever, he turns the volume up and belts out this song. This song makes me so grateful that I have such a huge blessing as my father, I don’t know what I would ever do without him.…

Foreword Before delving into the prescribed analysis as required by this assignment, I feel it necessary to provide some background as to why I chose this song as I could have seemingly chosen any other just as easily; however, throughout my troubled years, I found myself frequenting not only this song, but the entire album as well. In my younger years, back when i enjoyed the company of my older siblings on a daily basis before their departure to college, we all struggled in our dealings with our alcoholic, emotionally abusive father. Ironically, the broken bonds shared between my father, my siblings and I initiated the bittersweet genesis of the unbreakable bonds I am so lucky to share with each of my siblings. None, however, compare to the relationship my brother and I kindled out of the ashes of our house’s burnt and broken foundation.…

Cowritten by Childish Gambino and Ludwig Göransson in 2012 for Childish Gambino’s album Camp, “Heartbeat” narrates a dysfunctional relationship that cannot be salvaged despite the poetic voice’s desire to do so. [con’t] “Heartbeat” is visibly a song full of confusion, which the narrative voice decides to pass on to the reader as well. Instead of offering full insight for the reader, the reader is forced to follow along with the confusion and stress being felt by the poetic voice. With lyrics such as “I wanted you to know” (Childish Gambino 1) and “I read his posts on your wall and I feel sick” (Childish Gambino 61), the usage of the words “you” and “your” makes the reader infer that the song’s audience is meant to be the female subject. With this…

The song Throne by Bring Me The Horizon has quite a dynamic sound with many different elements without even contemplating the lyrics. The song starts with a short intro of electronic elements that periodically play throughout the song. The drums begin to become a part of this element starting with a fast paced cymbal rhythm picking up the speed. Once the rhythm is at full speed, it drops, pulling the listener into the entering lyrics. It is slower for a few seconds and only contains a steady and firm drum rhythm before it picks up again and becomes very dense with the electronic elements.…

Women were not and or still not treated equally to men and we discriminated against them just because of being a different sex. In America, women were not even allowed to vote until 1918. Even slaves were treated equally much sooner before women were. Luckily, today in the United States, women are allowed to vote and are able to have the same rights as men, but there are theories of men getting paid more than women because of being a different gender.…
