It’s fascinating how the same language can have a different meaning to different people. In the world, Language is as much a barrier as a connector and the same can be said for culture. Language and Culture go hand in hand, Cultures can be based on a language’s characteristics and Languages can help mold the way of society in a certain culture. The differing interpretations of the story of Genesis are representative of the different cultures. Metaphors we live by shows how interpretations of language and metaphors differ based on the culture and Lost in Translation shows how Language can affect society. These three examples indicate how Language is as dependent on culture as culture is dependent on language.
