El Lissitzsky: Poem Analysis

In this passage, I have identified that books should not only be produced because of high quantities in demand but be produced for quality demand for a more representative effect and uniquely appearance. Books that are made for quality demand depend more on carefully handcrafted work to look at its finest best and thus having them produce in non-traditional art and style form. This is important because at the time of the Revolutionary War, a large amount of books looked the same. They had similar format placement and plain standard text. El Lissitzsky wanted books and posters to change because they did not have a uniquely informative and interactive way towards an audience. The Revolutionary War in the Soviet Union caused them to make a production of artwork for educational and propaganda purposes, just as in America, where it gave its people a desire for material ownership. With both of these cases, this is why El Lissitzsky wanted to create emotion to the masses and to an audience through books. But by doing so, the need for speed (industrializing things faster) wouldn't work …show more content…
This image marks when he says that better quality comes from better design and representation. Our March book was produced with letter-pressing each letter to the page and customizing the arrangement of design elements to make it more interesting to readers. He says in the Armstrong book, a "reduction of a symbol, and sound letters can be easily created to make an image or picture where everyone will understand this." (page 27) By doing this, he made it easy to visually see and feel the story or poem. He also made the book more fascinating by creating indexes with tabs where the reader can easily transition to the next page or passage. Not all machines could do this, thus why having things handmade and carefully produced turns out to be the best quality out in the

“This work tells the night of transition of a beloved familiar of mine, on a night in a hospital. With no dramatic or compassionate intention, I created "La Noche" to amplify our separation and our unitive annihilation, like a song whispered in the ear of the one who goes, and the one who stays. An ode to everything we experience on this loss, and everything that we know stay forever when the body of the beloved is gone. This song should be heard by night, in absolute darkness with headphones, to obey the sound after initial resistance.…

Foundation Before Density In Scott McCloud’s graphic essay, “Show & Tell”, McCloud uses an appreciable combination of words and images interchangeably to convey clear and comprehensible thoughts, He establishes better, more understood, literature by depicting images directly alongside pieces of text. Evidently, pictures are an associative mechanism that enables newcomer and experienced readers to make visual connections to text they normally would not conclude to by only analyzing and interpreting words (McCloud). Moreover, aside from images allowing readers to make connections, illustrations are particularly crucial components in literary works because they can convey coherent messages all on their own. In all, visual depictions in literature…

In Part Two of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, “The Sieve and the Sand”, Faber discusses some of the faults of the society he and Montag lived in. He specifically identifies three missing things that were taken away when books were. The missing things were the quality of information (some books with more quality than others), the time to properly digest and understand it, and the freedom to act according to what is learned from the books read and from the first two missing things. The first, quality of information, refers to what Faber calls the liveliness found in a book, its pores and texture.…

In the line “This is what our dying looks like..” gives us as a reader the feeling that we need to believe that when something bad happens, we need to just believe that something that is there. Lissitzky Prouns

El Lissitzky was a Russian artist who, from 1919 to 1925, created pieces of artwork that he called prouns. But after 1925, Lissitzky switched from creating prouns, the L2 stage, to creating heavily Stalinist and propagandistic works, the L3 stage. This abrupt switch seems like a great disparity from Lissitzky’s earlier works, but Yve-Alain Bois, an art historian, claims that this switch is not as unanticipated as it seems. Prouns, though never explicitly defined, exist somewhere in the realm between paintings and architectural blueprints. Lissitzky wanted his prouns to break away from the illusionism that existed in the art of the bourgeois, so he played with axonometry, which displays three-dimensional objects that exist neither in a foreground nor background, and do not have receding lines, so parallel lines would, in theory, run parallel forever.…

He ascertains that “Sometimes the pictures can inform the words rather than the other way around. Often it’s easier for me to not say something in words. I show it rather than say it” (cited in Sainsbury & Styles, 2012, p.100). Entering the book, the reader may immediately become aware of his sensitivity to word-image interplay. It is hard to neglect the warmth and the organic feel of the book with its predominantly beige or brown backgrounds and his sketches which are in pastel tones of orange, red and brown.…

The period 713-756 AD was the time the Tang Dynasty reached its zenith, and it was also known as the golden age of Chinese poetry. Among all the brilliant poets of the time, Li Bai 李白was one of the greatest and most influential romantic poets in Chinese literary history. Li Bai(701-762), styled Taibai 太白, and his pseudonym was Qinglianjushi 青莲居士, which means “lay Buddhist of blue lotus”. He likes reading, traveling, drinking, and writing poems. Li Bai has superior and admirable writing skills, and the themes of his poems are broad; sometimes his poems reveal his disdain for the corrupt government, and sometimes reveal his love to motherland’s magnificent mountains and rivers.…

John Press points out that it was, perhaps, the common soldiers who first apprehended the horror and suffering of the war in its full intensity, and the officers saw the conflict in a more heroic light than the other ranks (1969, 135). Life in the trenches was miserable for Rosenberg, not only because he was a private, but he was a Jew and an intellectual who did not have anyone to talk to about art or literature. What also makes him different from the other poets is the fact that he was a second generation immigrant, he was not as English as the others. During his London years, he had managed to go to art school, and his artistic background made him more aware of the colors and shapes of his surroundings: Sassoon called Rosenberg a "painter-poet" as he painted such vivid pictures in his poetry. Rosenberg's poems are not exactly about the action of war, he speaks not of battles, but of what the men are doing.…

“What the modern means of reproduction have done is to destroy the authority of art and to remove it.” (Berger, 126) This quote from, ‘Ways of Seeing’ indicates a portion of John Berger’s bitterness towards the reproduction of art. Throughout his essay he states that reproduction has belittled the original, and has made images of art valueless. On the contrary, I believe that the reproduction of art has generated countless benefits for the art community, such as knowledge, popularity, and value.…

For instance, in the poem “The Gypsy”, based on my interpretation after an amount of acceptable readings through the writing, Harrison, (author and narrator), talks about someone else’s daughter. The narrator is communicating the readers how “she arrives in a magic moment” to the unknown person’s life. This individual without identity that Harrison is referring to in the poem, was not expecting a daughter for sure, so he “turns away”. I guess either he did not care, or was not prepared for such a huge surprise. But, when he went back to the moment he met the girl, to the place he first saw her, there she was “ecstatic”.…
