Juaquin Guzman Loera, most commonly known as “El Chapo” is one of the world’s most famous drug lords. Many people see him as a man of opportunities because he offers many jobs with his business, but others see him as a man who with his business kills many people. El Chapo is the head of the Sinaloa drug cartel and is currently one of the most wanted criminals in the United States, due to the fact that his drugs have killed many American people. He is a person that many people talk about and know about; recently in July 2015 after being in jail for a year and six months El Chapo escaped from jail for his second time. This was something that many people as well as news sources reported. Some of the news sources that reported about him were abc …show more content…
Both of these news sources stated the humiliation the government was going through after El Chapo escaped. Gio Benites from abc news stated, “A man who the Mexican government had said would never breakout of prison again”(00:00:38). The Mexican government had promised not only the Mexican citizens but also the world that El Chapo would stay in prison for the rest of life for all of the crimes and deaths that he had caused. They even incarcerated him in one of the most secure prisons in Mexico, yet the government was not able to keep their promise because El Chapo obviously got out. New York Times stated that Mr. Pena Nieto had said, “it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that the escape that occurred a few years ago is never ever repeated.” Pena Nieto himself stated the responsibility that he had to ensure that El Chapo stayed in jail, yet he and the government didn’t accomplish their responsibility. Which in the end it just accomplishes that both news sources state the humiliation the government was going …show more content…
ABC news stated that “the hole in which El Chapo escaped was 20 inches by 20 inches”(00:01:21), and New York Times stated that “he escaped from a 2 by 2 foot hole”(para. 3). A foot equals 12 inches so if the hole was two feet then it is going to be 24 inches. ABC news and New York Times give the audience different information which makes us wonder which news source is giving the correct information. Another difference between the two articles is that abc news reports that “18 prison employees went in for questioning”(00:01:09) while New York Times reports that “ the authorities held 30 prison employees in for questioning”(para.7). Again these articles present very different information one saying that 18 employees were taken in for questioning and another saying that 30 this again makes the audience wonder who is right. One of the biggest differences of all between the articles is that New York Times focuses on the violence occurring the article states “ the death of the 43 University students” while abc news just focuses on El Chapos escape route. Abc news is just giving us the information that we need to know while New York Times is trying to capture the audinces attention and in some way relate their deaths to El Chapo and the violence that is not only affecting Mexico but the United States as

He followed his father’s footsteps but instead of keeping it all for himself, he would help those in more need. Seeing the materialistic things and respect he would get with money and power, he used his intelligence to move up the cartel and overtime, with the help of his influences, took control of the entire Sinaloa Cartel. Wasn’t long until there was tension between the cartels and brought a lot of enemies to El Chapo’s life. The way he murders his rivals is by chopping off their heads.…

The media made sure that they included themselves in the knowledge of events that were taking place. Rothman states that the media was the center of the complications and the cause of increased riots and brutality, “And the protests, violence, and debate were all intensified and heightened by the central role the national media played in its coverage of the event” (Rothman 18). Producing “inflammatory rumor after inflammatory rumor” (Rothman 19), Rothman explains that the big media is arousing the public, and nation as a whole, with reports that have not yet been proven factual or erroneous.
