I arose from my slumber and I heard the soothing voice of the Lord that told me to go to Bethel. I announced to my household and every being who was with me that we would journey to Bethel. I demanded my people that they must put away their foreign gods that were among them and purify themselves and change their garments. I had taken these items and I hid them under the terebinth tree that was near Shechem. As I was journeyed with my sons a terror from God fell upon the cities nearby. Finally, I had arrived in Bethel, which is in the land of Canaan, there I built an altar and I named the place El-Bethel.
