Monday Write: Eighth Grade Expectations/Goals
I have many expectations for my eighth grade year at WCI. I expect this year to be challenging, fun, and ultimately gratifying when I graduate from middle school to high school. Some of my goals include sharpening my writing skills, doing well in my grades, and having a great year with my friends.
There are many different ways I plan on completing these ambitions. To sharpen my writing, I’m planning on taking more time to read my papers over, brush up on basic grammar skills, and possibly start a writing journal. I also feel that my elective digital journalism will help a lot with this goal since I’ll will have to write a few articles every couple weeks. By doing these my writing skills will hopefully

Exercising My Writing Skills Writing is evolving by the day in the English language, in other words communication is evolving on the daily since writing is our main source of communication. Learning how to write the English language in an academic setting has been one of my greatest accomplishments as a scholar, despite the fact that, I am still learning new skills daily on how to improve my writing. Even though, I am not the best the writer, I have gained enough strength in my writing to separate me from the average writer. In other words, the best way to improve on something is by practicing, and that is a lesson writing papers has taught me. One of my greatest skills as a writer in my opinion is being able to expand on a topic.…

Thanks to our experience in composing outlines, my writing is better organized and more concise.…

Three weeks into the school year, you notice that one of your eighth-grade students is consistently disengaged during lessons. She rarely answers questions, and when you call on her, she typically shrugs her shoulders and says, "I don't know. " Even when other students are engaged, you often find her listening to music, engaging in off-topic conversation, or putting her head down on her desk. Your assessments show that the student is well-below grade level in reading and mathematics. Answer both of the questions below, keeping each answer to about 150 words in…

I started my journey through writing this year a bundle of nerves and a stomach full of coffee. This is my first year taking an advanced English course, but I was determined to do well. There has been no sleeping in class or slacking off this year, I’m lucky enough to take a college course a year early and at a better price, and I’m not going to waste it. I’ve learned a lot this semester, including but not limited to: identifying how exactly the author’s purpose and audience determines effective writing, developing pieces of writing though a process of planning, revising, and drafting, compose an organized essay with clear points and main ideas, used appropriate tone and formality, critiqued writing, and finally how to grasp the MLA format. My writing has improved through the concepts I have learned this semester.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…
