I completed this assignment with an eight year old boy, who is currently in the second grade. He was a bit apprehensive about completing the organization of pictures in chronological order and the interview with me at first, but was put at ease when I told him that this was not a test on his part, and that guessing or saying “I don’t know” was okay. He did quite well on the ordering of pictures, just incorrectly putting the Civil War picture after the first Thanksgiving picture, which in my opinion were also the hardest of the bunch because the topics and time periods seem to relate more than any other pictures that I chose for him to organize.
