I could not agree more with them. There are several factors that I believe factor into six hour days being unfit. The loss of two hours pay per shift for a employee, companys having to hire more employees, and it could effect the overall health of the employee themselves.…

administrators have looked at a 8 hour shift and a 40 hour work week similar to police. This option usually is not viabale due to the fact it requires a 40% increase in a current staff size within a department that already employs a 24 hour on duty shift scheduel. (Davis, 2000) points out that a 12/12 split shift can show a benefit of overtime savings as compared to a 24 hours shift because less hours need to be paid if a employee calls off, but it is further pointed out that a 10/14 hour shift would be more benifical over a 12/12 shift due to less fatigue that employyes may incure. Some EMS departments, such as the City of Cleveland EMS, have experimented with a 12-hour shift schedule to address issues of stress. (Frazier, 1999)…

I believe six hour work days would not be very productive. Here are two of my reasons i have like, people losing hours on their jobs, some workers are getting sick and last but not least gender and minority wage gaps. My first reason on why its not productive is because some workers are getting sick. To work a six hour day it requires some critical things in order for it to be "successful". For example, workers are going to have to maintain a consistent level of concentration in work with minimal distractions as possible everyday they work.…

Well let's start off by stating that every person in this world is different, and act differently to different situations. With that being said when comes to this argument on six hour work days this should be considered. So when it states that in one part of the country it was very successful and the other part it was not that is because different types of people respond differently to things. As for what I believe should be done in the United States I think they should do some testing and research on it like the other countries did because us as Americans are very lazy people so it could very well work for us here in the United States. Since the main reason people are quitting from MedEX is related to transportation, there are several options that Harry Davis should take into consideration in order to avoid turnovers, for example, provide transportation to employees so they do not have to pay for parking, offer a 4 days and 10 hours shift, or 3 days and 12 hours shift, and last but not least, telecommuting. Transportation could play a significant role in this regards because employees have expressed their frustration about paying a high cost for parking in downtown. When employees notice that employers care about their needs and provide them with solutions, they tend to respond in a reciprocal manner by being more productive, their performance improves and they become more loyal to the organization because they feel that the company cares about them (Martocchio, 2013). Some businesses like Wal-Mart Distribution Center offers 4 days and 10 hours shift where employees work from Monday through Thursday having…
