Ethical theories can be broken down into two basic categories; consequentialist and non-consequentialist. Consequentialism focuses on the consequences of an action to determine if the action is good or bad. Non-consequentialism looks at intrinsic qualities of the action to determine its moral value, not the results of the action. Ethical egoism is a consequential moral philosophy where the individual takes care of themselves first by putting their goals and interests ahead of everyone else. The ethical egoist is not concerned with the good intentions of their actions or following any preset moral or religious guidelines. The huge number of sex tourists travelling around Thailand makes this situation quite common.In every large city in Thailand, there is some level of sex industry, whether it be for foreign customers, or local customers. The city of Pattaya Thailand is, with a doubt, is home to the largest and seediest red-light district in the world. This particular location specializes in catering to the western sex tourist. The sexually deviant egoist can find anything and everything they could ever want in Pattaya. Despite prostitution being illegal in Thailand, the industry draws large numbers of sex tourists and contributes significantly to the overall tourism industry in Thailand. While official statistics are strangely impossible to find, Wikipedia puts the number of tourists in the millions and revenues in the billions. (Prostitution in Thailand, 2017). The egoist approach and disregard for others is the perfect moral code for the typical sex tourist. To be more specific, psychological hedonism would be the most fitting moral code for a sex tourist . Issues like human trafficking, child abuse, mafia, and drugs are of no concern to the sexually hedonist. They are not concerned with the negative aspects of the industry or the human toll it takes on many others. They are only concerned with achieving their goal of sexual pleasure and satisfaction. If they need a doctor to help them with a PAS, a legal way to have a late term abortion, or a Thai hooker to keep them company for the night, then that is exactly what they would have.
