Egg Project Case Study

Improved Essays
1 - Problem - How do I create a container that will keep my egg from cracking, sufficiently cushion the egg, hold it in place, and lower the pressure of it hitting the ground, without using any liquids or food item(ex. peanut butter)? How do I also make the project light enough to minimise the pressure of the impact on the ground on the egg? In addition, how can I keep the project straight and increase the air resistance of the project without a parachute?

2 - Hypothesis - If I were to use a container with supports that resemble a rover lander, with something to straighten out the project as it falls, similar to what a drone has, and has cushioning, then my egg will not break when the container comes in contact with the ground.

Secondly, I had to tape four craft sticks onto the Styrofoam ball, all an equal distance from each other. Make sure all the craft sticks angle out and in the same direction. The container should resemble Sputnik at this point. Next, I had to tape two straws together. The straw has to be taped so the flexible parts of each straw are side by side. After that, I had to tape the straws onto the craft sticks. The malleable part of the straws should be furthest away from the project in the same direction. Afterwards, tape four more craft sticks onto the Styrofoam ball. These craft sticks should lie between the craft sticks that were already there. Again, the craft sticks should angle out, and face in the same direction. After, I repeated what I did with straws, and taped them onto the craft sticks. Then, I placed the cotton ball into the hole that was cut out for the egg. Next, I placed rubber bands around the hole in the Styrofoam ball. Then, I taped two straws,so that they were side by side. I made another one of the two straws that were side by side. Afterwards, I placed the two taped together straws over the hole in the Styrofoam ball and are in line with straws that were previously placed. I then repeated the last step, so that it lays vertically with the straws I had just placed. Then, I cut the straws very tiny, I taped these straws onto the edges of the straws that had been placed beforehand. Next, I placed the egg into the hole in the Styrofoam. Lastly, I packed the cotton over the egg and placed the rubber bands over the cotton and

In this experiment I attempted to created and study the affects of a egg in a hypertonic and hypotonic solution. To conduct this experiment I used the following materials: cups, eggs, vinegar, corn syrup, spoons and food coloring. To begin the experiment I placed three eggs in vinegar to dissolve their shells, leaving behind a thin membrane that allowed water to pass in and out of the eggs. The water molecules enter inside the eggs and the eggs begins to swell. Once the eggs have sat in the vinegar for two days I removed one from the vinegar, washed the eggs and placed it in the corn syrup.…

In this experiment, we are using Calcium, Aluminum, and Magnesium to test our theory about periodic trends. We put these 3 metals through different tests to show why elements in similar group and period react differently. The purpose for this lab is to test the idea of patterns in the periodic trend, and if elements in similar group or similar period react differently due to the trend that they follow. If two elements in the same group or family are to be tested, one of the element reactivity will be slightly different from the other. This is the work of the periodic trends, the characteristics of an element atom change because of the element locations on the periodic table.…

    Physics Egg Drop Project

The egg drop project we did involved many physics principles. One of them was air resistance, which happened because the egg dropped and it accelerated, while the velocity increased. Then the resistance of the air to the egg box motion also increased, which means the upward force of air resistance balances the downward force of gravity, so the egg box dropped at a constant speed. We attached balloons to the box we made in order for the box to pass through the air while softly landing. We believe that by attaching the balloons it would have less air resistance so the box will fall quickly.…

Pill Bugs: An experiment Introduction Pill bugs are very small and can be found anywhere. Under rocks, in between cracks, in your science class; they are everywhere! However, it is common knowledge that pill bugs do not like to be in open spaces. There are just too many dangerous possibilities, and they don’t need to take the risks. In this experiment, we tested to see if light affected the decisions of where pill bugs like to stay.…

The goal of this project was to build a rocket with three fins, that can launch 100 M into the air and fall down to the earth without the egg breaking. It had to be done by November 2. Some constraints that we had to follow that limited our design was that we could only use recyclable materials, and we couldn’t use heavy materials such as metal or wood. We also didn’t have any instructions to follow, every idea came from our brains or the internet.…

The way how the experiment works is pretty easy, everyone knows what the baking soda and the vinegar do when they mix. The tissue with the baking soda is so that you get a little bit of time to close the bag when the mix of the vinegar and the baking soda start to erupt. When you close the bag, carbon dioxide starts to fill up the bag and it starts to inflate, until, it is so full of carbon dioxide, that it pops. But sometimes it does not blow up the bag, Sometimes the carbon dioxide only inflates the bag until it looks like it is about to pop, but it just stays like that and it never explodes.…
