Egg Drop Project Case Study

Improved Essays
The goal of the egg drop project was to successfully create a structure that would protect an egg from a drop of three stories high. The problem resulted as an eggshell would not be strong to protect itself from a fall at this height. In this project we created a structure from common household materials, that will protect an egg from a drop at three stories high. Together, we worked hard to create a structure that is both lightweight, durable, and hopefully indestructible. To create our original design we used many materials. The first material we thought of using was a rug mat. We thought of using a rug mat and bubble wrap because they would absorb the shock, and therefore prevent the egg from breaking due to the immense fall. We

Are we ready for an America made one quarter of genetically abnormal persons? Yet, this is how America will be, if fertilized eggs are given legal personhood. Fertilized eggs are single celled embryos which are incapable of survival on their own. Granting them legal personhood will be against the interests of humanity. It will invariably politicize the matter, interfere with research that can potentially revolutionize healthcare, deprive men and women of the right to choose the fate of their sex cells, and drive up healthcare costs on a logarithmic scale.…

Once the egg was decalcified, it felt very fragile and bouncy. When the egg didn’t have a shell anymore, it was kept from seeping out by the “plasma membrane” (egg white), which was congealed by the soaking in vinegar. When the nucleus of the egg became visible, it looked very cloudy. The substance that entered/left the egg in each situation was water, due to the state of the egg, by way of osmosis, in a way of trying to balance the inside and outside the “cell” (egg), this balance is essential to functioning at the preferred isotonic state. This lab could be improved by using 2 different eggs, as the data seemed inaccurate when placing a hypotonic egg into a solution of corn syrup made the egg hypertonic, because there wasn’t a proper start weight in the egg when placed in the second solution.…

It was hypothesized that if we place an egg in a low sucrose solution, then it will enlarge or swell, making it a hypotonic solution. The results of this experiment prove this hypothesis was correct. According to the results, as time increased, the weight of the egg also increased. This can be concluded because the low sucrose solution caused the egg to intact the liquid causing it to expand.…

Egg Impact Crash Test Project When first receiving this project I was not totally sure what I could use to keep my eggs safe, until I thought long and hard about various different options and finally came up with a plan. I chose to use numerous boxes, tall lysol wipe containers, rubber exercise bands, regular rubber bands and a few pieces of siding. The construction of my device was done with these objects as well as tape, a ruler, and scissors. Altogether, my project was not quite difficult to put together except for the lysol container and rubber part; I had to carefully cut the lysol containers and gently tape the rubber properly on them. First, I got a large box and taped boxes on two sides parallel to each other.…

While going through this lab we will see the inside of a shell-less egg. The way that the egg lost its shell is because the egg was prepared in advance. The way that the egg was prepared in advance was because the teacher soaked the eggs in vinegar for about two days. The reason why the teacher soaked the eggs in nothing but vinegar for 2 days was because, when the eggs soaked in vinegar for 2 days, it made them like water balloons. Soaking the eggs in vinegar for 2 days is very important in this lab.…
