As I read the story "Berenice" I came to conclusion that the theme of the sroty is material things don't count in a marriage its all about the love you have for your spouse. I chose that theme because Egaeus married Berenice and didn't actually love her he was only with her because she loved him and he did not want to hurt her feelings. He was also married to her because she had beautiful teeth that that was the only thing he loved about her. The exposition of the story is when Egaeus introduces himself and tells the reader about his tragic life and how he lost his mother while she was giving birth to him. The rising action is his cousin Berenice begins to get sick and and ends up dying. The climax of the story is that Egaeus talks about the
