Efficiency in Human Services Administration deals with cost effectiveness and time. Efficiency is often measured and completed in a manner that tries to avoid cuts and wasting money, materials, and efforts in the production process to a have a result. It basically means are things being done correctly. Here is where we see leaders as doing the right thing and managers doing things right. Many organizations lean to cheapness because they don’t want to invest in people who are in need. This method causes the quality of service to become low and produce negative results. Efficiency refers to how work is performed and most often in terms of looking at schedules. The less time to accomplish a task, the more efficient the process will become. …show more content…
The President of the organization thought that it was cheaper to pay the staff extra money to ride the bus versus hiring bus aides as a monitoring system. This cheap way of trying to save money caused staff to not have enough time to properly plan for instruction. If the bus arrived at the camp ground late, this would cause the daily schedule to the shifted drastically. I felt a need to fight for changes within my budget to hire bus aides to handle the responsibilities of checking campers in at the bus stops and training aides on behavior management techniques should issues arise. In addition to meeting with the President, I reassessed my budget to cut out 1 field trip out of 8. Even though campers’ loss one field trip, later in the camp season, a private funder gave money to support the trip. By alleviating the task of staff from having to ride the bus in the morning and afternoon, they were able to plan accordingly for daily lessons, converse with peers about needed issues with campers and feel productive as instructors. By changing this small issue, the quality of service for campers was not interrupted but enhanced by giving staff the necessary time needed to be
