How Does Violence Affect My Life

Violence as impacted my life is so many ways. I’ve seen so many violent things at this point in my life that it would be impossible to list every single violent image etched in my mind. There are countless acts of violence I have witnessed, so many that they have all started to blur together when I think about violence. But some violent images have stood out in my mind. The shooting at the Las Vegas Strip, 9/11, Sandy Hook, and so many other acts of senseless violence. Those were very public acts of violence. There is the violence I take in from the media, violent television shows about murderers, video games where you steal cars and kill people with baseball bats. Then, I can remember violence in my own personal life. My father striking my mother. My younger sibling killing a bird. I have heard the experiences of others, how violence so greatly impacted their lives. A friend of mine witnessed his mother get shot when he was young and later in life stabbed the man that committed that act of violence. We see how terrible violence is, how it can …show more content…
Although it is impossible to completely rid of youth violence, there is ways to avoid a majority of it. Kids need a healthy way to express and let out all of their emotions in order to avoid letting out those emotions in a negative, violent way. Kids need good role models to show them there are other ways to express themselves rather than behaving violently. Not all youth have somebody they can talk to, to tell what is going on in their lives, to ask for advice and to look up to. So they act out, violently more than often. If youth were provided with healthy ways and habits to control and express their feelings in a non-violent way they would be happier, healthier,less distraught and overwhelmed by their emotions. What I can do about youth violence? I can be there for others, be one that my peers can talk to. I can help them express their emotions and control
