Effects Of Trophy Hunting In Africa

The population of lions in Africa is dwindling and if we don’t react now, soon they will be extinct. For example from 2002 to 2009, 1,363 dead lions were sent out of Tanzania and those 1,363 don’t include the ones killed by trophy hunters. Also, in Nigeria 2009, Philipp Henschel, sought out lions in Nigeria and no lions were found.

Still, the hunting industry stated that trophy hunting is actually bringing money to villages in need. Then again, the hunting industry’s statement is not so accurate. Trophy hunters make about $90 million each year, but only 3 percent of $90 million goes to local communities, which is a reason why trophy hunting needs to stop and dealt with.
