If you did go you would see all these amazing sites and find new things and also better our economy. But they didn’t think on how bad the weather would have been or how long, dangerous, and risky trip it would be, they just wanted people on the west coast so we can claim it as ours and not be taken away by another country. Picture two of that packet shows a clipper ship going on the ocean as someone is mining for gold in a gold mine, and they are saying that going over the mountains would take a long time so just go around South America to get there quicker. But the one thing that they didn 't look at was how dangerous and treacherous the voyage that they were about to take just to get a little bit of gold that was left behind that others didn’t mine. So to them gold was worth risking their lives just to go around to California by ocean instead of going by land which was safer. The U.S government doesn’t care what happens to these people, if they die or get injured or disappear, as long as they got people on that land they were happy because they can then claim that land as theirs and not have anyone else try and take it from …show more content…
They tried to get more people to go to the west so they lied and inspired people to go to the gold rush in California and then they killed thousands of natives when they moved them off their land so they can move white people onto their land and didn’t even bother to try and help them survive. All of this matters because since they were all being really greedy about getting land they only cared about themselves and not about the people that they were taking the land from. But since they were careless about that there is some native tribes that don’t exist
