The Industrial Revolution happened in the late 1700s and early 1900s. In order for the industrial to happen they needed labor/people to work, natural resources and capital. The reasons the industrial began in Great Britain was because of the agricultural revolution, which led to more laborers. Also, because Great Britain had a lot of coal and iron.The Industrial Revolution was an important occasion which started in the 1760. It was a transition to new manufacturing processes. The effects of the Industrial Revolution were more positive than negative, economically. It was positive because it created more jobs for those who were jobless. One example of a positive effect economically was described in a document titled “Working man’s Companion- The result of Machinery, namely cheap production and increased Employment” which was published in 1831 by Charles Knight. It stated “...Your houses are better built, your clothes are cheaper, you have an infinite number of domestic utensils. You can travel cheaply from place to place, and not only travel at less expense, but travel 10 times quicker than 200 years ago.” This example shows the economic effects of the Industrial Revolution were positive because the transportation was evolving, which was actually very beneficial and useful. One example of a negative effect socially was how people were having to deal with improper and unfair living conditions. For example, in document #6 it states that they had no clean healthy water. Also, they could not afford to pay the builders to provide for pipes so instead they had to throw away their sweepings, garbage, dirty water, and filth into the streets. This example shows the social effects of the Industrial Revolution were negative because people went through multiple hours of hard work and still can’t can’t afford things like pipes. Also, due to the fact that there was no clean water, plenty of people must’ve gotten seriously ill. Another unfair and negative point that demonstrates the negativity of the social part of the revolution was the fact that the they had no clean water to drink.
