America is a great country in the world. The revolution happened in 1776 created this powerful country; however when this country was established, it still had some big problems and these problems made this country not as firm as what people is seeing today. Fortunately, because of the American Civil War, America became a federated country and started her way to be prosperous. The important effects of the America Civil War are two parts. The first is whether United States should be a confederation of a lot of sovereign states or an indivisible country which has lots of independent states with a powerful government. During the Civil War, more than 600000 people had died and nearly 500000 people wounded. This battle killed a large amount of people so what cause the Civil War? The reasons could be separated into three fields which are economic, political and social. First, in the economic field. The economic model of southern states were almost farm economy. A lot of farmers lived in the southern states and they planted many crops,especially, cotton. cotton need a large number of cheap labors to plant and harvest so people who own big farms need slaves help them do farm work. As a result, Southern states had to rely on the slavery to develop their economy. On the contrary, northern states had been industrialized. The economy of northern was more relied on the industry rather than agriculture. They did not need a lot of labor. They just used machines to produce goods. Second, the difference of politics. The institution of the slavery is a big struggle between northern states and southern states. Some northern states had abolished the slavery. and The northern government wanted to set up a strong central government and weaken some rights of states. They also wanted to use central government to abolish the slavery in America. Southern states were strongly disagree with these two policies. They opposed to decrease the rights of individual states and they considered that states should own right to decide whether they are willing to accept federal policies. In the southern states, planters were elites who will dominate the south politically, economically and socially. even though, a white people who was poor in the south, at least, he still had the slaves to look down on.
