There once was a time when watching a television show viewers loved the suspense of waiting another week to see the next episode. With the change in technology viewers no longer have to wait that long. With the change in technology viewers no longer have the suspense of waiting a week for the next episode. There are many people who don’t mind sitting down in front of the television, tablet, or computer screen and watch an entire season, that consist of 10 plus episodes, of a specific TV show in one sitting. When streaming services such as; Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon prime were introduced to the world; it made watching an entire season in one sitting easier to happen. In 2013- Netflix conducted a survey, the majority of respondents defined binge-watching as “watching between two to six episodes of the same TV show in one sitting”(Grant, 2016, pp 79-82). The term binge has been associated with several different terms but all has o do with some type of addiction and some type of effect on the body. Binge drinking is when someone consumes an excessive amount of alcohol in a short amount of time. Binge eating is when someone consumes an excessive amount of food in a short period of time. Many television networks engage in binge-watching; they just don’t call it that. Instead, it’s called and promoted as a marathon. Many networks do marathons before a new season start, so it can allow viewers that haven’t watched the previous season catch up. Marathons are also for viewers…
