Human Trafficking Problems

Every single year, between 14,500 and 17,500 men, women, and children fall into the hands of traffickers. In my analysis of this issue, I will be taking an in-depth look at how the Internet and other technologies are used to ensnare trafficking victims, I will look at how the internet and other forms of technology play a role in both enabling and combating human trafficking. Although Human trafficking takes place all over the world and is very much a worldwide problem, where technology is concerned, technology-based human trafficking is much more prevalent in advanced countries like the USA because we have more and easier access to modern technology when compared to developing countries. No matter where you turn you can probably see evidence of one type of technology or another. From your laptop to your smartphone technology is very much a common part of everyday life, so it should come as no big surprise to know that technology, especially the internet, plays a large part in human trafficking in our modern age. As with almost everything in our world, we should beware that, often, a tool like the Internet can and does fall into the hands of people who have destructive and selfish purposes in mind. I recently read a fascinating report, by the researchers, at the USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy (CCLP) in which it talked about how quickly the people that are involved in the act of human trafficking were easily adapting to our every growing technical world.
