Technology Affecting Children

How is technology affecting the lives of children all across the world. Is the use of technology at home and school really benefiting or just distracting them? Well technology has been around for a long time and no matter what somehow a kid learns or has his hand of one. Some parents use it as a learning tool for their young ones but it is also used to distract their children from certain things they may find boring or just trying to calm them down. How is this really helpful though? There are educational games kids can use and have used to develop them such as learning how to count or learn their ABC’s. But how many of them really use it for that purpose, could this just be damaging a child's development.

With access of tablets, phones, and computers kids could just search up what they are curious about rather than setting up their own little adventure and discovering it themselves. Comparing this generation to the past you can notice the drastic difference between the two. Now kids only wanna stay inside and play on the iPads and hate going outside. But kids back then only wanted to stay outside and despise staying inside. This is kinda ironic because parents use to want to keep their kids inside but now they want them to go outside and be active. Not only do kids not feel the need to exercise, most of them won't get experience the outdoors as it should. Being outdoors gives out lots of benefits. “Spending time outdoors has a huge number of positive effects on the body — it provides you with exposure to sunlight, which supplies your body with Vitamin D. This helps to fight infections and keep your skin healthy. Additionally, regular exposure to sunlight helps to keep your sleep cycle regular by influencing the body’s production of melatonin.”(Dhruvin)
Also tablets and smartphones carry a blue light within the devices. This blue light has been researched to be harmful and a major role to why children get headaches, eye strain and irritated eyes. Not only does this happen but sleep is also disturbed by the blue light. This makes it difficult for a child’s body to prepare itself to get ready for a good night's
