Participants were encouraged to play Fact Pong and every time someone made a shot they were referred to the drinking fact with the number that match the number on their cup. Participants were rewarded with free water or juice boxes after winning the game and reading the facts. Overall our booth was quite a success. People enjoyed playing, and some participants were even quite shocked at the alcohol facts. Some participants went as far as talking about rethinking their drinking habits after hearing long terms effects of alcohol. They were even quite intrigued to hear the lesser known facts, such that long term alcohol abuse can eventually lead to lung damage. “The most common and identifiable alcohol-associated health problems include liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, cardiomyopathies, neuropathies, and dementia. However, the lungs are also adversely affected by alcohol abuse.” (Simmet & Sisson, 2015). The lungs can develop TB, respiratory syncytial virus, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. During the first few weeks of the class, we learned about services offered by the university. One of the services is the strengths quiz. The strengths quiz is designed to give students an idea of the area that they excel in. With this information, they can tackle problems better and know how they instinctively act and think. My strengths are restorative, achiever, focus, discipline, and significance. After finding learning what my strengths are I now utilize my strengths whenever possible. They help me achieve greater goals and accomplish assignments. Ultimately, I used my newly found strengths to help me complete my Fall Palooza project. I stayed focused on what needed to be done. I was disciplined and completed my project in a timely manner. Using my willingness to achieve, I was guaranteed to have a project that was more than adequate. I also found a great deal of significance in my work. This assignment is given to pre nursing students to show them that nurses are meant to be more than just people in hospitals. Nurses do so much more, they go above and beyond. One of the things they do to go above and beyond is promoting the wellbeing of their community.
