1. Effects of sexually objectifying ads on body image of high school females.
This research paper will concentrate on how depiction of sexual objectification in popular glossy magazines affects self-perception of 14-18 years old females attending high school. This project will incorporate two types of scientific research, quantitative and qualitative. First, the researcher will classify what sexual objectification is, how often it is presented on the pages of selected glossy magazines (teens-oriented magazines such as Teen Vogue and Seventeen and general interest female magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Glamour, Allure, etc.). When the presence of sexual objectifying ads on the pages of glossy magazines is confirmed, the researcher will conduct a quantitative research on how often experimental group is exposed to glossy magazines. Finally, qualitative research will be required to identify how analyzed ads affect teenagers and their body image. One of the proposed ways to pursue such examination is to interview a selected group of teenage girls about selected ads and ask about how such ads make them feel.
