Teenagers use cell phones for several different purposes; using cell phones has become vital in modern society. According to aptparenting.com “cell phones provided a sense of security for teenagers as well as their parents.” The effect this has on teenagers is that it makes them feel a lot safer when they are out with friends because they can get in contact fast, easy, and effectively which means if a bad situation occurs, they could ring emergency services or parents immediately. Due to advancements in technology teenagers are able to bully others through cell phones, Bullies are no longer limited to verbal or physical bullying. As a result of this, the cause this has on some teenagers may be that they get targeted for what they post on social media. The effect this has young adults is they may start to feel depressed, miserable, and venerable. This can lead to many problems as they may not know how to deal with these emotions and in extreme cases people have killed themselves as a result of bullying. This is one of the negative effects of cell phone use in teenage years.
The final negative effect on cell phones in teenage years is the rise of driving while texting or ringing. Teenagers who have cell phones could be tempted to text while driving which can have serious consciences’ like injuries and in some cases death.
