Meaning and Effects of Jewelry From Around the World
Jewelry and its important role in the world is what makes it so meaningful. Jewelry has existed for thousands of years and it has so many meanings to so many cultures around the world but this essay is only going to focus on a couple. Jewelry has big economic effects on some countries that is big, it can rise countries to the top; however the economy also affects jewelry making. Jewelry has changed so many times, not just in looks but in uses, purposes, and meanings. Jewelry has greatly decreased in modern society where it is mostly worn for decoration, but once it was made of and meant for many things.
The history of jewelry is very interesting. The first known country to not only wear jewelry but also make it is Africa. Africa’s first known instance of jewelry making was in Kenya over 40,000 years ago. The jewelry was most likely made from natural elements found from their surroundings, which was then made into beads all meaning something. It is amazing that these people began telling stories with something as simple as rocks and wood..
