A social force is an element of society which has the capability of causing cultural change or influencing people. I, myself being part of a society has been effected severely by many sociological factors. One can only avoid certain social forces if he/ she secludes himself deep in nature where they are not in contact with another human being.
When babies are born, they are introduced into a new world with different values and norms. It certainly does not matter whether it is a developed or underdeveloped country because, values and norms are always inherent in any type of civilization or society. Especially when society would look upon the parents badly for not teaching their kid properly. However kids’ actions are easily forgiven, unlike adults. The process of learning social norms and values from their surrounding is called socialization where children become self-aware of their culture. As children transition into adults the exposure from agents of socialization also increases. There are five agents of socialization, which are groups or social contexts in which significant processes of socialization occurs. The five agents include family, school, peers, mass media, and work. Family is the main agent of socialization during infancy and childhood. Family was the whole-wide world to me as a new born baby, because I was not exposed to anything nor did society expect a new born baby to socialize outside of its family. Schooling is more rigid than other socialization agents because children are “expected to be punctual, to be quiet in class, to obey their teachers, and to observe rules of school disciple’, while at the same time pursuing a definite curriculum of subjects from elementary school to high school. Being in a school, makes teenagers like me open to society standards and rules by taking many classes. Of course learning new curriculum was not the only social facts that I was introduced to in school. I also learned social skills through interaction with teachers and other students. School definitely led me to the other peer agent of socialization. Through schools, I made friends who were all different in mind and heart. Through each person, I learned the behavior and values as person that might contradict the society values and norms. Through the involvement in same age peers, I, myself as a person developed through many mistakes and success.
