The principals of schools that have uniform policies and stricter dress codes in their school believe that the students stay a lot more disciplined in class and a lot more focused in all of their studies and that the students feel less peer pressure in school (Buggs). According to the study, the principals have also identified the following effects of school uniforms and stricter dress codes were that 79 percent believed that the school uniforms positively affected all of the discipline in the classrooms (Buggs). "Discipline issues have decreased tremendously," she said, "when children look around at each other, they don't see the name brands and clothing that often divides them." (Buggs). According to Don Woodard, a high school principal who is in Johnston County, the students' "demeanor is better and there are fewer disruptions because of teasing, or students being uncomfortable because of the apparel that others are wearing." (Buggs). Schools with uniforms have said that their students all have a lot better self-esteem because, without the name brand clothing on display, all of the students are placed on an equal level to each other in school (Buggs). However, recent court rulings shown have indicated that the student dress code policies withstand legal challenges as long as they adhere to some basic principles (Buggs). The court had also said that this policy was "viewpoint neutral" and was justified because of its "substantial government interest" in improving a lot of students education (Buggs). Over a lot of the years, U.S schools have been shown to increasing more stricter dress codes for all of the students ("Percentage of US Public Schools Enforcing Strict Dress Codes, 2013–2014 School Year”). As shown throughout this whole essay, dress codes are shown to do and make things for the students a lot better and a lot easier. Some of the schools that do enforce dress codes on the students are better ranked than some of the schools that do not enforce the dress codes on the students in the school.
