According to various tabloid papers, women in England and Wales do not report the violence as they lack trust in the police (Webb, 2009). This has a great impact on the community as they feel if women are too afraid to come forward and say what is happening to them than the rate of abusive relationships and abused children must be much higher than the government is stating (ONS, 2013).
The media stated they feel homicides against domestic abuse victims are on the rise. This has a hard impact on society as women who want to seek help from a charity or organisation may not feel it will be worth it if they are being fed information about deaths tolls rising against domestic abuse victims. In the graph shown above, 'Domestic Violence Homicide in England and Wales ', it is clearly shown that the number of deaths has actually decreased in the 21st Century.
