Texting and driving or distracted driving has caused many problems, injuries, heartbreak, and even death. There are many forms of distracted driving besides texting and driving such as messing with the volume when listening to the radio, eating, setting your GPS, letting your mind wander, and talking to your passengers. It’s so easy to lose focus when you’re driving and sometimes you’ll pay the price. [1] According to the NSC, there are 1.6 million crashes that occur annually due to texting and driving. It’s a huge problem. A big enough problem that it causes a quarter of the wrecks in America. Most people have the mindset that they can do it and getting in a crash won’t happen to them, but that’s not always the case. Some people have had injuries from a broken toe to being paralyzed from the neck down from a wreck involving distracted driving. All because someone had to text. …show more content…
You’re putting someone else’s life or lives in danger. It could be a bride and groom on their wedding day and they’re driving home to celebrate, it could be a mother picking up her daughter from daycare, it could be an elderly man driving to his last day of work before retirement, or it could be just someone like you, and they wouldn’t make it to their destination because you had to answer that text. It’s selfish to text and drive. All it takes is one second. Families have been broken up over wrecks that have killed either their father, their mother, their brother or so on.
