People still use negativity to classify people based off of gender, social standing, or physical appearance. This eliminates any chance of personal gain from it such as understanding. Everyone bands together in their own cliques made up of people that look the same or are from the same societal background as them. As Wiseman says in her essay Queen Bee, “Cliques are sophisticated, complex, and multilayered, and every girl has a role within them.” This stands true for society as a whole and not just a typical teenage girl. People are comfortable with what they are used to, and people are used to familiar sights and sounds that they have grown up with, such as people of the same skin color or social class. Based off of this observation, it is very easy to see why people unite in different cliques and stereotype other cliques by the characteristics of their members. As seen in earlier history, the way that we have classified each other by gender is another common stereotype that states that women are inferior to men. Women’s duty has always been in the home, while men worked and provided for their family. This has caused women to be thought of as nothing more than a caretaker, or even a piece of property and incapable of anything more. These classifications have been formed by society and can be found in every nation across the globe. No matter what language, skin color, or religion a country is associated with, there is no running from stereotypes, which can have a deep effect on the people that they are involved with, both the victims of the stereotypes and the creators of them. Stereotypes always involve one person or group of people being judged, or classified, by another, which can lead to two outcomes: the bettering of society or the destruction of a part of it, although one can always hope the latter of the two never happens. In some cases it always will until someone comes along to correct it, but without both the good and bad classifications, society would be a completely different picture than what it is today, because many of the struggles that happened in the past helped a certain people grow stronger and affected their development throughout
