Register to read the introduction… Disneyland knows that people travel from all over the world with their families to experience the Magic that the company offers. Disneyland is known for its outstanding customer service and cleanliness. To keep up with the image that the company holds, it demands hard work from all of cast members employed. It is a known fact that Disneyland hires cast members just to keep up on the park maintenance and image alone. LA Times wrote that “after dark, the dirty work at Disneyland begins. A crew of 600 custodians, painters, gardeners, and decorators works 365 days a year to ensure that the 85- acre park meets Walt Disney’s squeaky-clean ideals” (Martin, 2010, p. 1). Being a past cast member, I have witnessed the strict guidelines that Disneyland has in making sure the park is perfect every morning before the gates open. My family recently visited the park and could not be more dissatisfied with the customer service and cleanliness of the place. (S, 2011) Yelp “The only reason I'm giving this two stars is because the rides are fun. But the rest of the park...gross. Note to Magic Mountain: Go to Disneyland, and take notes. County public health officials between March 9 and March 15 for "vermin infestation" and "failure to prevent entrance and harboring of vermin" (Magic Mountain Restaurant Closed for Health Violations, para.

Walt Disney had a vision. He imagined an amusement park where children and their parents could enjoy rides and have fun together. But, when he was in an amusement park in the early twentieth century, he noticed that there were only random assortments of roller coasters, and how sanitation wasn't the greatest importance. Walt wanted a place where children and families could have fun together in a clean, orderly and fun way, and at an affordable price. He knew exactly what he wanted, and it would be called Disneyland.…

When continuous improvement is present this will lead to a reduction in the amount of daily ride maintenance and errors associated. Waste in the form of unnecessary wait times, injuries and death will also be taken into account. As a result, higher internal and external customer satisfaction will be improved. The implementation of this concept, and making improvements to services and processes will lead to decreased costs, while making more opportunities for larger innovations and competitive strength. While Knott’s Berry Farm is a true “theme” park with rides, attractions, live entertainment, stores and restaurants within distinct areas, Magic Mountain seems to be an amusement park that has a large collection of rollercoasters with no particular themes. As Chris pointed out, Cedar Fair is committed to using 9% of net revenues in capital investments. In their 2013 Annual Report, Six Flags also reported they plan on spending 9% of revenues on new rides and attractions. Although Magic Mountain advertises itself as a family amusement park, the perception is that their targeted demographic group is young people from teenagers to twenty-somethings. Knott’s has made an effort to install some new family rides and has taken out a couple of thrill rides.…

Despite the differences between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, they share an important component that contributes to their success. Offering excellent guest service to our guests is what keeps the magic alive along with the themes in each line of business. Having cast members with a friendly and welcoming smile willing to help in each line of business makes the Disney experience so much better for our guests. My In-Park Competency Experience made me realize how important our interactions with our guests' are and how it can affect their whole stay at Disneyland/Disney California Adventure. When discussing theme parks in America, Huxtable states, “The park is the draw; the big payoff comes with the future residential and commercial developments, a fact little advertised by friendly cartoon characters. These are no Magic Mountains; they are enormous land deals. Profit, not planning or, even remotely, public interest, is the generator.” Huxtable describes how these places that are being made are solely made for profit; they are made out of self-interest, simple greed and insatiability for wealth. She states how simulated environments like amusement parks and Las Vegas are a problem because there are no longer distinctions made between the real and the fake; the fake is just as good because there is no longer a desire for authenticity as long as it is entertaining.…

Vacations are not always what they are cracked up to be. Vacation destinations are usually viewed as places where people travel to relax and escape from the realities of everyday life, but it could also mean learning something valuable if looked at through the right perspective. When going on an excursion to a tropical island or an amusement park, it is easy for me to forget how much hard work is put into creating the perfect experience for guests. From the outside, Walt Disney World may appear to exist only to make a profit, but its implementation of creativity and hard work has shown me that through those means, I can achieve success and happiness in my own life. Having been on the rides at Disney World, I have learned that it is the creativity…

In addition, when walking down Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom, guests may smell the aroma of cookies in the bakery or popcorn. Carson also comments on the park 's visual appeal by stating "Disney ensures that what visitors see of that land is what they would want to see on an actual vacation there" (232). The level of detail proves how Disney strives to create an enjoyable experience for all ages, and is beyond what children can comprehend.
