There are critical roles that social workers play in the child welfare system nationwide. The well being of children and their families are protected, especially the ones that are in desperate need. There is a total of 702,000 children that have experienced some type of abuse and neglect in the home. Most children under the age of five will experience some type of maltreatment (Kastner, 2017). Of the youth and children there is an estimated 147,462 who received some type of foster care and 18,934 who age out of foster care. By having healthy families, it will produce healthy children, healthy communities and a prosperous economy and ultimately a strong nation. Investments in prevention programs will support healthy child development and lower the number of children affected by abuse and neglect, and the financial cost to our nation. Child abuse and neglect affects over 1 million children every year. It costs our nation $220 million every day it. By expanding the 75% reimbursement rate to include all costs of training, both direct and indirect current limitations reduce the number of colleges and universities able to participate in the program (Perlman, 2012). Eliminating this program would affect every one in each community across the United States. This program allows child welfare workers to get the training they need necessary to get child maltreatment under control. By establishing programs deemed necessary will cut the turnover rates in child welfare and decrease the burnout rate among child welfare workers. The Title IV-E program is federally funded and is necessary to help with the great overturn percentage in helping train the welfare workers for prevention of child abuse and
