As our society developing, we attach more and more importance to the development of technology. Cellphone is one of the most typical products in our society. We all like using cellphone, not only because it is convenient for us to communicate with others whenever and wherever, but also that we can find lots of fun into it, such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. We should admit that cellphone is interesting and convenient, and it really helps us a lot in our lives; however, it gives me a question: Can we live without cellphone? We know that there are lots of applications we can use on the cellphone. It is interesting and convenient, so it is easy to make us addictive if we don’t have enough self-control ability. Without self-control ability, it is difficult for us to get away from the attraction of cellphone to work and study, which decreases our efficiency. My aunt ever told me that she was regretted to buy a cellphone for her fifteen-year-old son Jerry because Jerry always texted with his friends that occupied most of his studying time, which made him have terrible scores. My friend Jim told me that he knew how harmful for his working efficiency if he used cellphone a lot, but he still couldn’t stop using cellphone and control himself. Therefore, Jim often got scolding from his boss because he didn’t finish his assignment on time because of cellphone distraction. From Jerry and Jim’s experiences, we know that self-control ability is so important. We need to keep our brains clearly, and understand what we need to focus doing importantly. It doesn’t mean we need to give up using cellphone. We need cellphone, but it only happens when we really need and it doesn’t influence our working and studying

We as people thrive on human connection and friendships. Sherry Turkle mentions in her article that “conversation is the most human and humanizing thing that we do”. This statement made me ponder what conversations and relationships would look like without the distraction of cellphones.…

Nowadays people prefer to spend time alone, with their devices rather than socialize with others. A group of 14 years old boys in a device-free camp, said “Time where you having nothing to do but think quietly and talk to your friends” (Tuckle, 4) shows how they feel with life away from devices. Also shows that without phone, they would be bored, and would rather use their devices than talk to their friends. Devices also change your personality, “Our phones are not accessories, but psychologically potent devices that change not just what we do but who we are” (Tuckle , 6) people should stop carrying their devices everywhere they go. Find a time to leave their devices, so that they can interact and socialize with others.…

With the right balance people can avoid their phones from controlling their lives. Analysis: In my opinion, I do not believe that the article, “Your Phone is Ruining Your Life” completely achieved its goals. This article did express good points about phone usage but did not go into much depth. The author could have added more reasonings as to why people get caught up in their phones. I did agree that people should use technology but only use it in moderation.…
