The homeless have gone down in history as a burden to society almost since the start of humanity. Society has finally began to make a movement Instead of talking about how it affects society to help change this bad situation in a positive way that benefits everyone.
As it is known homelessness is someone who does not have a home therefore living on the streets. This has created a problematic matter in America, the numbers ranging from two-hundred and five-hundred thousand in the mid- nineteen hundreds to 3.5 million people in America during 2014 experiencing homelessness. It may not be thought of much but with so many people there with God knows where they have been sleeping or doing before arriving to the shelter, it must be taken into consideration that not everyone there is healthy. It is not because they are unhygienic but because they have been living in the streets where those resources are not readily available to them at all. Adding to that fact there are other people and sharing the same rooms, restroom etcetera creates diseases that can be transmitted if the shelter is not kept up to a tidy standard. Shelters do try to enforce cleanliness but there is only so much they can accomplish in regards to resources. There is proof of people that have been in shelters such as Robert Johnsen who went to see how a homeless shelter experience would be like. His time there was an "OK" experience but does not expecting to go back anytime soon. There still needs to be something done to hold shelter up to the standards and importance of having a clean environment. It can be solved, the homeless are not dirty people. Just because they do not live in a home as any other ordinary American person or family does not necessarily mean they lack the capacity to attain information that will benefit them. With the disadvantage of being homeless it can be difficult to control diseases such as TB or tuberculosis. Diseases as such can be easily transmitted to the rest of society and the healthy people within the shelter. It is illegal to resist medication or treatment to this sickness but it is hard keep up with who has it. Al.so to know that you cannot afford medical insurance never the less medication can create fear of being in debt. Or for example if they have cancer they cannot have treatment because they cannot afford it, it does not come into argument that maybe they too want a chance at life but in a way life is automatically stripped from their hands because of lack of money. America wants to control diseases but if we do not help the homeless how can we really prevent them. These people are humans too, and get sick just like any other person would.
