Adolescents may gradually lose interests in doing things, exploring and making friends because they have not much confidence. Also, parent-youth conflict is more intense and frequent between adolescents who perceived their parents as relatively less warm and more controlling. Some rebellious behaviors reflect the wants of independence which means adolescents would like to be mature and unique.
Authoritative parenting style is similar to authoritarian parenting, since they are giving the guideline and direction to children too, but authoritative parenting is warmer, reasonable, and flexible, as stated by Kordi and Baharudin (2010). Change the parenting style to authoritative can enhance the adolescents’ development. This parenting style has been identified to be linked with the most positive outcomes.
