In 1948 when the National Party came into power it introduced a new system called Apartheid which was part of the campaigns promises.Apartheid was quite different from the previous system in South Africa which was Segregation of the pre-war government.The apartheid system was was designed to to restructure and strengthen the economic opportunities in South Africa but the system lacked the trademark of systematic exploitation of native Africans.Butler(1998:19) Apartheid was the policy or the system of segregation or discrimination based on skin colour ,Africans were the victims of this policy. Stating that the first two decades years of the nationalist rule were different from the period of rapid economic growth mostly in the manufacturing industries. He also states that from the early years of 1960s the was a new generation of radical historical and social scientist who attempted to look closely at the relationship between Apartheid and capitalism.The debate was based on whether is Apartheid was good for capitalism or not.
