Generalized anxiety is when children worry excessively about many things, such as school, the health or safety of family members, or their future in general (Kids Health, 2015). Obsessive compulsive disorder known as (OCD) many adults and even young children can develop this type of disorder. Children with OCD tend to have things a certain way and if it’s not the way the child would want it, it will cause anxiety in the child (Kids Health, 2015). Separation anxiety is a very common phase for children to have anxiety about. Children can experience separation anxiety when they first begin school, being in a new environment, or being by themselves for the first time without their caregivers. Once a child feels comfortable in that environment the child won’t feel as scared and won’t have anxiety of going to that particular place (Kids Health, 2015). Panic attack disorders are another common disorder for children to develop. During a panic attack a child typically has sudden and intense physical symptoms that can include a pounding heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, numbness, or tingling feelings. The domains that are affected by anxiety in a child are physical, emotional, and cognitive. Anxiety has an impact on a child’s physical development by a lack of sleep the child is getting at night, trouble concentrating during the day and it even is hard for a child to complete simple tasks. This leads to children’s grades to be low and low school performance (Kids Health, 2015). A child suffering from anxiety also experience stomach aches, and headaches. Because a child will complain that they never feel well they will often miss school because of these illnesses (Kids Health, 2015). Children’s cognitive development is being affected by anxiety by them having fear of doing things. Children with anxiety disorders think that they can’t do something and they don’t have the confidence in them to try new things or they feel like they are not good enough. Children also tend to have a memory loss due to their anxiety disorder. This also affects a child while they are learning things at school. Anxiety also affects a child’s emotional state. A child with anxiety may feel sad, irritated, or feeling angry. It is hard for children to deal with anxiety then it is for adults because young children don’t have the coping skills that some adults may already have. This interferes with a child’s development because if a child is always feeling sad, or angry this can also lead into depression for the child, making their
