The main reasons pets are given up is because of landlord issues, allergies, cost of pet maintenance, moving, no time, inadequate home, too many pets already, hording, house soiling, biting, personal problems, and doesn’t get along with other pets. This is just a list of excuses for not keeping your pet, which the animal shelters get left with.
