As stated in the research to find the effectiveness of enhanced communication therapy in the first four months after stroke for aphasia and dysarthria. This study was externally randomised experimental with blinded outcome assessment which enhanced to aims and objectives. The quantitative research method is recognised, unprejudiced, and systematic, which includes analyses of mathematical data (Burns et al. 2015). The steps used in the quantitative study were correlations and quasi-experimental (Burns et al. 2015). However, this quantitative research was a suitable method as the researchers were trying to observe the effectiveness of enhanced communication therapy in the first four months after stroke. Which could be vital when assessing Omar’s needs as he has lost his ability to speak and understand due to aphasia caused by stroke.

The previous literatures it was noted investigations in stroke around the world had similar experience (BMJ,2012 and Clinical Rehabilitation,2013). It is highlighted that, communication therapy had no added benefit beyond from everyday communication in the first four months after the stroke (Bowen et al, 2012). The researchers wanted to find out the ‘black box’ of care and speech and language therapy is one such component. Which include a variety of approaches in clinical practice (Bowen et al, 2012).
