Sports Coach Assessment

This post will identify a set of criteria which to use to evaluate the effectiveness of a sports coach, a teacher, and a senior pastor referred to henceforth as leaders. Each of the items will be listed in order of highest priority to least. Next, the item will be justified along with how each item difference from each leader. Lastly, how each of these criteria can be measure will be looked at. This post is written from my personal perception of the job of these individuals and the roles that he/she plays in shaping the mind and character of those who are placed in their care.
Leading by Example The first criteria that I would use to measure the effectiveness of a leader are “Leading by Example.” Leading by example or modeling is the best way in my opinion to teach and for students to learn. Do they encouraging their charges to do better or do they just criticizes what they have done wrong? I know that I have had very few individuals who took the time it requires to show what I had done right and showed me how to build on it. Knowing the impact and the growth that this has had on me, it is nice to see the California Teachers Association: Institute for Teaching (CTAIFT) encouraging the use of this technique not only for their students but also for aiding their teachers to be better.
While the San Diego Region IV Think Tank in its final draft of Strength Not Weakness for 2013-2014 focuses its attention on Principals relationship with his/her teachers. (see link to site at the end), there is now a movement by teachers to use this technique to aid their students and to better their schools.
