Peer Pressure In Korean Students

“B+ is Asian F.” This quote is coming from Glee, the TV show. I watched this show before I came to America. At that time, I couldn 't understand why they say that; however, after I came to America, I realize why they say it. It is not because we are smarter than other students, but we have different perspective on the study. Many Korean think that students only need to focus on the study. In here, study means that related with college. Therefore, about 13%of Korean private high school recoked general education classes like art, music, or gym class. These examples look like dosen 't related with the peer pressure, but I will illustrate how and why these examples give peer pressure to Korean students with many clear examples. There are some students called play boys, which is similar to American bully. They are the kind of leaders in school, and many students want to be one of them. However, they are one main reason which gives peer pressure to other students. Unlike American high school, violence is very common in Korean high school. Just a few years ago, teachers can punish students in legally in Korea, including spanking, but it became illegal few years ago. Unfortunally, violence of students each other is still very common. Specially, the play boys are very violence. They extort money or valuable things from other students. According to the research paper, about 48% of students had extorted money or valuable things from other students. If other students are disobedience to them, they will bit them up who disobediences to them, and bullying them until get they want. They are targeting weak student, and many student who were targeted by play boys take a lot of pressure for it, unfortunally, some students commit suicide. Even some students uploaded
