Effective strategic planning refers to attempts to fabricate basic actions and decisions that guide what an association is, whatever it does and the reason it does it (Earle, 2009). The objective of strategic planning is to ensure affiliates of an organization’s focus on the priorities and vision in reaction to the dynamic setting. Different organizations have exclusive external context, hence, developing an appropriate strategy is necessary for working in the right direction. Understanding the context of an organization’s strategic plan is vital in achieving the set objectives (Jepson, 2009). Consider a sports club named Melbourne Group; it deals in a wide range of sports activities such as athletics, aerobics, cycling and skating. To achieve Melbourne’s Group aims, the leadership has to adopt a strategic plan that caters for all the activities that the organization engages because; strategic planning not only braces firms to expect and respond effectively to the changing environment, but it also enhances the worth of money by improving output. The way to achieve strategic plans is to adapt to strategic models that reveal the reality of the organization by recognizing key differences within the firm. The most suitable model for the sports club Melbourne Group is the goal/issue based strategic model.
Melbourne Group is a fitness center that opened recently in the Mexico City. Its opening is due to lack of a sophisticated fitness and wellness center given the high demand for such a facility in the area. The vision for Melbourne Group includes growing into one of the largest social centers, not only in US but also in other parts of the world. For a sports organization to achieve its objectives, they must acquire a strategic planning model or develop a new model that is in accordance to their specifications. Understanding the context of the organization needs is the key to selecting the correct model. Hence, the leadership of Melbourne Group should first set their priorities; this includes outlining the most important objectives that are achievable. The second step involves gathering and analyzing data concerning the objectives.
The data should be set with key performance indicators that can be gauged and monitored as they plan is ongoing. Evaluation should then follow, together with removing the failing objectives and setting up necessary adjustments, to limit advance deterioration. The third step, punctual attendance to meetings, clearly states that all the workers at Melbourne Group organization must attend all meetings as scheduled. The reason is to be updated with the current trends that can be tailored to improving performance; in this way, all the employees remain are the same page as far as strategic development is
