Effective leaders know the goals and purpose of their organization. They value their health and well-being, have integrity, and are selfless servants. Self -Care
The first step in being an effective leader involves self-care. Leaders must first take care of themselves physically, which involves getting the proper amount of rest, diet, exercise, and good hygiene. Mental self-care involves academic growth, spiritual self-care is spending time with the Lord and replenishing your mind and spirit with the word, and emotional self-care involves taking the time to do something relaxing with family, friends, or alone. Selfless service is being concerned about others rather than yourself, while conveying empathy, awareness, persuasion, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of people and building community (Greenleaf, 2014).
