Throughout the cores of time the human brain has always wanted to acquire more knowledge, whether it’s for survival in the wild or for a multimillion dollar job. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of ways to help the student brain along its journey of education. Some ways work faster or easier than, and some just don’t help at all. It’s all about the student, how does the student learn best? How does the student retain Information? And how the student keeps from becoming stressed? No matter whom he/she is and what works best for them, there is a purpose for what is being studied. Because studying for today will achieve tomorrow. The following will show the everyday student three ways they can become better at studying: First sleep, second chunking and third annotation.
Sleep

When studying annotations the student should talk through what was annotated, by doing this the student can see if the explanations are precise. Preciseness means that the student is writing everything accurate and logical. (Page 143 Effective College Learning: Second Edition.) Benefits of annotating are; that it increases the likelihood that the student will retain and be able to recall information from the text. It also makes it much easier to write or talk about the text because the student has notes to draw from. (soa.ccsdschools.com) On pages 138-142 and page146 of Effective College Learning, there are examples of the few ways that annotation can be done. By using these examples I was able to get a bigger idea on what annotating really was. There are many ways to do it and there really is not a wrong way, but there is a process that if done correctly, you will see a tremendous outcome.
