“O the sun comes up-up-up in the opening”. E.E Cummings was born October 14 1894 in Cambridge, MA. E.E Cummings started to write poetry at a young age after that he went to Harvard, he was encouraged to do poetry by a cubist painter known as Pablo Picasso. E.E Cummings was also a painter he was also encouraged by Pablo Picasso. First of all, he used auditory and visual techniques to create meaning. The question is how does he use those techniques to create meaning. When he makes poetry he uses visual techniques to place the words in a creative form, for example in the poem “l(a,” (Doc A), he uses the words “a leaf falls,” then he places the words like leaves are falling.
