Edward avoids eye contact, does not converse with others unless forced to do so, and has extreme difficulty making friends. Edward displays a lack of joint attention in a scene when a neighbor is attempting to hold a conversation with him and he is unable to look away from his work to focus on what she is referring to. Edward also exhibits restricted and repetitive patterns that are the last classic feature for the disorder, and also key symptoms according to the DSM-5. Mary Shelley’s book, Frankenstein, proffers multiple meanings of the monster that can be drawn upon from the text depending on one’s perspective and analysis on the book. The book can be seen as a true story with a real monster who murdered Victor Frankenstein’s family for the monster’s want for revenge. However, this one side is only the surface of what the story is truly about. It only gives a one-dimensional view that everyone should be able to grasp from their first read of the book for personal enjoyment. Ironically, this castle is found at the end of a purposely unremarkable, normal neighborhood. The juxtaposition created is almost comical. Suspension of disbelief must be applied, because not only do any of the characters not question why there is a castle in their neighborhood, they also do not show any real concern for the medical implications of Edward’s condition. Additionally, the events of the film are told by an older version of Kim, presumably to her own granddaughter, in a sort of fairy tale-esque bedtime story.…

The Premise Forrest Gump is a movie detailing the life of an Alabama born man with a low I.Q. In a very realistic fashion, the audience follows Forrest as he grows through his life. Although the movie is a simplistic picture of the life of a single man, it also somewhat satirically details many of the events the fictional character would have lived through and provides a life-like picture of many people with psychological disorders in the acquaintances Forrest makes through his adventures. One of these acquaintances is Jenny Curran, who became Gump’s friend on his first day of school.…
