One day at school Edward had to do a presentation about himself in front of the class. “ I am 5’8, 165lbs. And my the way my bright hazel nut like eyes correspond with my bronze skin attracts all the cuties”. You could hear the giggles from all around the room. In the movie Big Fish, Edward Bloom is similar to that of a mythological hero seen in Greek stories. He was bigger than life, filled with fantastical adventures and had a flair for telling tall tales. Due to this, it is often difficult for those near him to decipher fact from fiction and reality from myth. This concept of myth reflects the ideas of Bruce Lincoln, who, like Edward’s son William, also attempts to reconcile the facts and fictions of myths. Edward saw himself as a big fish in a small pond.…

In his Personal Narrative, Edwards does talk about how sinful he was throughout his life but he makes particular recollection of his youth. "It is affecting to me to think, how ignorant I was, when I was a young Christian, of the bottomless, infinite depths of wickedness, pride, hypocrisy and deceit left in my heart' (Edwards 188). It would seem Edwards vacillates a one point, when he states;” Though it seems to me, that in some respects I was a far better Christian, for two or three years after my first conversion, than I am now; and lived in a more constant delight and pleasure: yet of late years, I have had a more full and constant sense of the absolute sovereignty of God, and a delight in that sovereignty; and have had more of a sense of…
