Joe Edwards, Senior Accountant at Estep Doctor & Company, presented to the Beta Alpha Psi fraternity on Monday, September 19th. Edwards provided the audience with valuable information about CPA exam. Edwards began with talking about the four different sections and what they entailed. He discussed the upcoming changes that will be made to the exam during 2017, influencing the majority of our members. Kingsolver is correct about America’s degrading basic survival competencies but comes off as a pretentious wide eyed idealist which leaves the reader reluctant to admit that she is right. Why? The argument presented by the text is compelling with examples of children who associated the dirt of growing food with something that is unsanitary or unsafe to consume. In Philadelphia in 1861, Alfred M. Green addressed African Americans during the Civil War to propose that they try to join the ranks of the Union army in the fight to end slavery. To do this effectively, Green empathized with and instilled a sense of camaraderie in his fellow African Americans to make his idea persuasive and convincing. One of the ways in which Green is able to empathize with his audience is by naming the significant injustices that have been brought upon them as a group. Everyone who owns a television has seen the “Somewhere in America” commercial, which was published by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, at least once. This commercial is full of emotions and most people, “Always change the channel because they can’t take it anymore,” (McLachlan). Most of the depressing aspects of this commercial is the pictures because the dogs and cats are all beaten up and suffering from something. There are many ways that people in positions of power influence society. Prompt 1 CQC In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens uses diction and metaphors to describe how if one’s dreams and aspirations are based on selfish needs, then his life will be miserable. After Pip puts his benefactor to bed, he goes back to the fireplace and starts to think that “[Pip] began fully to know how wrecked [he] was, and how the ship [he] sailed was gone to pieces”(253).
