Does Obedience Annul God’s Grace? A standard church manual, which was written by Edward Hiscox states: “We believe the scriptures teach that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace.” However, this doctrine is not limited to the denomination for which Mr. Hiscox wrote his church manual. Salvation by grace only is an easy religion; and a popular one; yet, even those who teach it refuse to relinquish all other doctrines; Faith, for example
The most decisive way to settle a dispute is by appealing to an authority on the subject. In matters religious, the authority is; God’s Word. The Bible states that “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” (Genesis 6:8) However, that did not negate God’s commandment for him to construct an ark and to build it according to God’s pattern. God could have saved Noah without the ark; nonetheless, He chose that method and Noah’s salvation depended upon his obedience to God’s commands even though he was saved by grace.

He realized that his salvation came by the grace of God, based upon his obedience to God’s message: “arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins.” (Acts 22:16) Later, Paul wrote, “For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man boast.”(Ephesians 2: 8-9) It cannot be denied that both God’s part and man’s part are included in this passage.
